The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to an Iranian woman, Shirin Ebadi, lawyer, judge, and human rights activist.

In less happy news, the Japanese prime minister, Junichiro Koizumi, dissolved the lower house of the Japanese parliament, in the hope of gaining control of it for his Jiyu Minshuto ("Liberal Democratic Party", which is actually conservative). There is talk of privatizing the post office.

And, for myself, it appears that the antibiotics are working, so I am no longer stumbling around in a fog. Last night I sat down and read Diane Duane's Wizard's Holiday, a YA fantasy which was rather neat.
