Political belief is a very odd thing. I know that I form my political opinions in silence, after study and discussion with people I trust. As I have remarked before I feel my political opinions are like bicycles--small and simple, but they take me where I want to go. Most extremist positions seem to me perhaps like humvees--large, noisy, and usually going to some dangerous goal. I think the process of formation is very different. I am very surprised when I find myself passionate about a political belief, yet extremist opinions seem to be formed only for passion--I wonder if they are like photons, which are thought to exist only in fast motion.
