Showdown in the Senate

Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is resigning. Now, if the Bush administration was sensible, they'd send a conservative moderate to the Senate, and everyone would be so relieved that that appointment would probably just sail through. Now you know, and I know, that this is about as likely as that guy in Nigeria actually sending me any money. With that in mind, here is Daily Kos's list of what we can do right now.
  • Sign up with Save the Court, People for the American Way's issue-specific web site.
  • Sign moveon.org's "Protect Our Rights" petition, and get on their cell-phone list, if you have a cell phone.
  • If you have a cell phone, also sign up for PFAW's mass immediate response text-message list.
  • Recruit friends and family members
  • Write letters to the President, asking him to choose a consensus candidate.
  • Write to your Senators, asking them to insist on consensus candidates.
  • Write to the media, telling that why a consensus candidate would be a superior choice.
  • Spread the word in your on-line journal or blog.
...some prayers might be in order, too.
  • Post a new comment
